Texas Water Development Board approves $4,075,000 to the Sunbelt Fresh Water Supply District (Harris County) for wastewater system improvements and a water supply project

AUSTIN - (May 19, 2016) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of a $4,075,000 loan from the Texas Water Development Fund to the Sunbelt Fresh Water Supply District (Harris County). The District will be able to finance the design and construction costs associated with a wastewater system improvement project and the construction costs associated with a water supply project.

The District could save approximately $18,000 over the life of the loan by using the Texas Water Development Fund.

With the assistance approved today, the District will be able to replace sewer collection lines and construct a water well that produces 1,000 gallons per minute at the Seven Mile Water Plant.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
